PRESS RELEASE 14 April 2026

In accordance with the Provisional Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia (2012), especially Article 14(a), the Federal Government of Somalia has officially recognized the leadership of the SSC-Khaatumo administration. However, there is a constitutional dispute arising from political interference and the failure of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to fulfill his duties.

The President has also engaged in actions that are not in line with the Constitution, including interfering in political processes, undermining state institutions, and failing to uphold justice, transparency, and good governance in the country.

The Somali Future Council strongly urges President Hassan Sheikh to immediately cease actions that violate the Constitution by 15 May 2026. If he fails to do so, he will face legal consequences, including removal from office, in accordance with the law.

Furthermore, the Somali people are advised to remain calm and avoid actions that could lead to instability, while continuing to support democratic processes and the rule of law.

At the same time, all Somali communities are encouraged to strengthen unity and cooperation, to protect national stability and ensure that constitutional order is respected.

Finally, we remind President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud that his responsibility is to serve the Somali people, safeguard national unity, and ensure that political processes are conducted fairly and lawfully. Failure to do so will result in accountability under the law.
